You can support Safe Haven Orphanage in many ways. Every contribution helps and is hugely appreciated. It only costs a few hundred US dollars a month to feed and clothe the children, as well as pay for their education. The other main costs of running the orphanage go on things like building repairs, prevention of Malaria and other diseases prevalent in the area, and general hospital bills and medical treatment. Following are some ways you can help the children...

Donate money

You can now donate online by credit card - using our PayPal account - to do this, please click on the 'Donate' button on the right. Please note that if your donation is larger than about $400 it works out much more economically fee-wise to use a normal bank transfer.

Donate other things

Everything is appreciated but the children have a particular need for clothes, books (in English, Thai, Karen & Burmese) and school equipment (excercise books, stationery). They also appreciate board games & anything to do with Soccer/football.

Volunteer

There are potentially always voluntary positions available in a variety of fields, either with the orphanage, or with some of the local schools. We are always looking for enthusiastic and motivated individuals to come and work with the children. If you are interested in finding out more about this, please use our contact page to get in touch with us.

Please note that we have had a huge response from volunteers wishing to spend time at the orphanage over the last few months. The vast majority have left a very positive impression, but a small minority have possibly underestimated the simple life and accomodation at the orphanage. This can unfortunately end up being a bit more of a burden than a positive influence.

We ask that volunteers are able to commit to approximately three months or more, as the time and effort required to accomodate new volunteers often makes shorter stays less worthwhile.

Visit us

If you are interested in making a donation and would like to come and spend some time with the children to experience how they live their lives, then we can possibly arrange a shorter -term visit. Time spent with these kids will have a positive influence on the rest of your life, as they want for nothing and are the happiest kids you will ever meet. We ask kindly that you make a donation as this will help cover the expenses we incur for your basic needs whilst here (travel to and from the orphanage, food costs etc).
